ACC’s Plastics Division Elects New Operating Committee Leadership

WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 4, 2020) – The American Chemistry Council (ACC)’s Plastics Division announced today the incoming chair and vice chair for its Operating Committee.

John Thayer, senior vice president of sales and marketing for NOVA Chemicals Corporation, will chair the committee beginning in January 2021. John leads NOVA Chemicals’ polyethylene and olefins sales, marketing and sustainability efforts. John currently serves as member and vice-chair of ACC’s Plastics Division Operating Committee.

Christine Bryant, senior vice president, polyurethanes – North America, Covestro LLC, will serve as vice chair on the committee beginning in January 2021. Christine oversees Covestro’s North American polyurethanes business. She also participates in ACC’s Center for the Polyurethanes Industry and its Sustainability and Market Outreach Committee.

“Our new committee leadership reflects the vision and dynamism needed to ensure our mission – to lead the U.S. plastics industry in driving circularity and sustainability solutions by increasing alignment and impact through advocacy, outreach and partnerships – is achieved,” said Joshua Baca, vice president of ACC’s Plastics Division. “As our incoming leaders, John and Christine’s expertise and championship of a sustainable, responsible and more circular plastics industry is crucial to delivering benefits for communities, America and the world.”

They will serve in these capacities for one year.
