Large-scale polyolefin recycling plant in Spain

Large-scale polyolefin recycling plant in SpainLocated between Barcelona and Tarragona: The Castellet i La Gornal site (Photo: GCR)In Castellet i La Gornal near the Spanish city of Barcelona, the countryâ??s GCR Group (La Bisbal del Penedà¨s; www.gcrgroup.es) plans to commission a large-scale plant for recycling polyolefins next year. The facility, which will have a capacity of 200,000 t/y, is to be fully operational by 2025, according to the compound and recyclate manufacturer.
The products are to be marketed under the brand names Ciclic (polyethylene and polypropylene recyclates) and Granic (mineral-filled masterbatches) in more than 100 countries worldwide. Target markets include packaging, automotive, construction, and home and garden. GCR also provides contract manufacturing for food contact applications.

The new production capacities will give the Spanish company a huge boost in growth. The combined output of the Ciclic and Granic ranges is to increase to 500,000 t/y. In addition to its headquarters in La Bisbal del Penedà¨s and the Castellet i La Gornal site, GCR has another branch in Barberà  del Vallà¨s.
