The organisers of the Plastics Recycling Awards Europe 2019 have extended the deadline for submission to 14 Dec, from 23 Nov, due to what they described as “a flurry of last-minute entries”.
The competition is open to companies manufacturing products with more than 50% of recycled plastics, as well as businesses that promote and advance the recyclability of plastics. Companies who are engaged in putting their submission together have now won a three-week reprieve, say the organisers, who added that others, who may still be considering entering, are warmly invited to do so.
The awards will be given out in the following eight categories:
Automotive Product of the Year
Building & Construction Product of the Year
Electrical & Electronic Product of the Year
Household & Leisure Product of the Year
Plastic Packaging Product of the Year
Plastics Recycling Ambassador of the Year
Product Technology Innovation of the Year
Recycling Machinery Innovation of the Year
Judges of the Plastics Recycling Awards Europe 2019 include Willemijn Peeters, CEO of Serious Business, the social enterprise dedicated to preventing plastics from ending up in the environment. Earlier this year she received the award for Plastics Recycling Ambassador 2018.
Other judges include Bart Bleijerveld, co-founder and design lead at Better Future Factory sustainable design and engineering studio, Karen Laird, editor of Plastics News Europe, Rune Thoralfsson, owner and director of plastic film recycler Norfolier GreenTec AS and Ton Emans, president of Plastics Recyclers Europe (PRE).
All the finalist entries will be exhibited in a dedicated feature area during the Plastics Recycling Show Europe (PRSE), to be held in Amsterdam 10-11 April.
The event has been organised by PNE publisher Crain Communications and Plastics Recycling Europe (PRE).
