Veolia (Paris / France;
www.veolia.com) has joined the
On-Pack Recycling Labelling (OPRL, London / UK;
www.oprl.org.uk) scheme, a UK initiative which aims to increase awareness for plastics waste recyclability among consumers. Veolia is the first waste management group in the UK to join OPRL since the scheme opened up to the sector earlier this year.
More than 500 firms in the UK are members of OPRL. Founded a decade ago, the scheme in 2019 teamed up with the compatriot
Waste and Resources Action Programme (Wrap, Banbury;
www.wrap.org.uk) to help the country hit its target of 70% plastic packaging being recycled by 2025 (see Plasteurope.com of
10.04.2019).
Tim Duret, technology and organics director, Veolia UK and Ireland, said it was very â??encouraging that the whole value chain is now coming together to overcome the barriers to creating a true circular economy for packaging.â? Veolia has over the years been active on many projects for collecting and recycling materials, helping manufacturers across the globe design for recyclability and developing new infrastructure in support of a circular economy.19.08.2020 Plasteurope.com [245752-0]
