Meraxis (Muri;
www.meraxis-group.com) has announced a strategic partnership with Hungarian oil and petrochemical company
MOL (Budapest;
www.molgroup.info) for the development and production of polyolefin re-compounds. The goal of the alliance is to create and manufacture high-quality recycle-based compounds and distribute them worldwide, according to a statement. Managing directors of both companies have signed a joint letter of intent on the cooperation.

Stefan Girschik said, â??We aim to use the combined expertise of the two companies to meet the increasing demand for high-quality plastic recyclates in the automotive, construction and packaging industries.â? Meraxis said it will supply MOL with high-quality, post-consumer recycled materials to be blended with the producerâ??s polyolefin resins. The companies plan to use their combined compounding knowledge to develop a new product portfolio for production at Germanyâ??s
Aurora (Neuenstein;
www.aurora-kunststoffe.de), which MOL acquired in 2019 (see Plasteurope.com of
17.04.2019). Both partners are expected to be involved in distribution.
Meraxis was formed in 2019 with the merger of the Swiss companies
MB Barter & Trading and
Rehau (see Plasteurope.com of
04.07.2019), with the latter responsible for global production material supply for the Rehau group. MOL laid the foundation stone for a 200,000 t/y polyol plant in Tiszaàºjvà¡ros / Hungary in 2019, and start-up is scheduled for 2021 (see Plasteurope.com of
