Recycling subsidiary Rondo Plast expands capacity in Sweden / Recyclates for automotive, furniture, constructionRondo Plast (Ystad, Sweden; www.rondoplast.se) plans to expand its machine park with two new systems. The subsidiary of compounder Polykemi (Ystad; www.polykemi.se) has invested just under EUR 1 mn in a press for compacting production scrap and a cutting machine. With an additional capacity of 4,000 t/y, the potential recycling volume in Ystad increases to up to 30,000 t/y.

The investment would allow the company to process materials that previously had to be incinerated, says Patrik Lindqvist, purchasing manager at Rondo Plast. The new compactor can process industrial waste such as polyamide fibres from clothing and carpet production as well as ropes, plastic films, and nonwoven waste from the hygiene industry.
Rondo Plast supplies the automotive, household appliance, furniture, and construction industries with plastic compounds based on recycled base materials รข?? specifically, the company processes ABS, PA 6, PA 6.6, polycarbonate, PC/ABS, PBT, polyethylene, and polypropylene.

Last year, Polykemi opened its first compounding plant in the US. In addition to the production facility in Sweden, the company, which generated sales of around EUR 180 mn last year with 350 employees, also has two compounding plants in China: one in Kunshan, Jiangsu, and the other in Chongqing.
