Expansion of plant near Milan to include production of LDPE recyclatesAliplast (Ospedaletto dâ??Istrana, Italy; www.aliplastspa.com/en) is investing around EUR 25 mn in the expansion of its domestic recycling plant in Borgolavezzaro. According to the company, systems for processing 25,000 t/y of LDPE will be installed at the site on the outskirts of Milan. Commissioning is scheduled for the beginning of 2026. By then, the current workforce of around 60 is to be increased by a further 30. Aliplast currently has recycling facilities for 20,000 t/y of rPET in Borgolavezzaro.

Meanwhile, construction of the recycling plant in Modena is progressing. There, the company, which belongs to Gruppo Hera (Bologna, Italy; www.gruppohera.it), plans to recover 30,000 t/y of recyclates from the processing of dimensionally stable plastic products from the consumer electronics and automotive sectors. The plant, which is set to cost EUR 50 mn to build, is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2025.
