New recycled plastic tube to be introduced by Neopac

body.single-projects .post-content :not(p) img, body.single-post .post-content :not(p) img { display: none; } Neopac has announced it will introduce a new recycled plastic tube at the Perfume, Cosmetics and Design (PCD) trade show being held in Paris on 30 – 31 January 2019.Created to meet customer demand for more sustainable packaging materials, the recycled plastic tube is the latest addition to Neopac’s EcoDesign line and is made from a mixture using 75% recycled, food-compliant plastics. It uses 50% post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials from closed loop recycling, such as milk bottles, and 25% post-industrial recycled (PIR ) materials from tube laminate production waste.Complying with EU environmental packaging legislation, the recycled plastic tubes are decorated using low-solvent varnishes and solvent-free colours that are exclusively UV cured. The tube caps are composed of 100% ocean plastic materials derived from sea ropes, helping tackle sea pollution.
Neopac head of marketing Cornelia Schmid said: “Pure, food-grade recycling material is currently scarce on the market. The introduction of our recycled tube shows how important it is for us, as consumers, to collect plastic packaging, and for the industry to find further solutions for separating these materials by type. In this way, existing material remains in circulation for as long as possible and we save ‘new material’.”Neopac recently joined Circular Economy for Flexible Packaging (CEFLEX ) a collaborative initiative of European companies and associations representing the entire value chain of flexible packaging. CEFLEX aims to have a broad sustainability and circular economy strategy for flexible packaging. Neopac also works as a development partner for customers in joint projects for sustainable packaging solutions.Schmid said: “We plan to continue introducing new, recyclable EcoDesign family members, and launch more initiatives to minimise environmental impact and support our customers’ desire to reduce their ecological footprint.”
