Cefic granted funding to advance PMMA recycling in Europe

Cefic granted funding to advance PMMA recycling in EuropeThe European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic, Brussels / Belgium; www.cefic.org) has plans to improve PMMA recycling technology ? it has secured funds from the EU's "Horizon 2020" research and innovation programme for its "MMAtwo" project. The methacrylates sector group, which operates within Cefic, will play a role in the project as a member of the advisory board. Recycling of just 10% of the PMMA produced in Europe could represent an additional market value of around EUR 1 bn.
PMMA, also called acrylic, is a solid and transparent plastic used in a variety of applications such as rear lights on vehicles and lenses for glasses. As a sheet material, PMMA can be used as panels for building windows, signs, furniture and LCD screens, among others.09.10.2018 Plasteurope.com [240817-0]
