Total Corbion PLA appoints agent for Turkey

Leading manufacturer of poly lactic acid (PLA), Total Corbion PLA has appointed polymer trading company Kumru Kimya as a non-exclusive agent in Turkey for its Luminy PLA portfolio, the company announced 28 Nov.
 
“Total Corbion PLA’s product portfolio will be an important asset in our overall product offering, especially during this era in which the circular economy becomes the ultimate path forward in the plastic industry,” said Mert Kumru, general manager at Kumru Kimya.
 
Kumru Kimya expects the “quality and versatility” of the Luminy portfolio to help it unlock new applications for various products which require biobased or compostable solutions.
 
“We are delighted that Kumru Kimya will be our representative in Turkey” said Hugo Vuurens, senior business director EMEA at Total Corbion PLA, “Turkey is an important manufacturing base for many plastics products with over 7,000 known converters and much innovation is taking place there.”
 
The company expects its cooperation with Kumru Kimya to significantly contribute to understanding and meeting the rising demand for biopolymers in Turkey.
 
A joint venture between French energy company Total and biotechnology firm Corbion, Total Corbion PLA is a leading manufacturer of PLA and lactide monomers with a 75-kilotonne-per-annum (ktpa) production facility in Rayong, Thailand.
