Henniez commits to making bottles with 75% rPET content

Swiss mineral water supplier and Nestlé brand Henniez has committed to making its plastic bottle range with 75% recycled PET plastic (rPET) content.Since 2013, the company has been using 30% Swiss recycled PET and is planning to transition to 100% locally recycled PET.The commitment will support the PET circular economy, as discarded PET bottles will be made into new Henniez recycled plastic bottles without using new oil resources. Nestlé Waters Switzerland general manager Alessandro Rigoni said: “With 75% recycled plastic in all our Henniez plastic bottles, we are clearly committed to this highly efficient circular economy.“We are proud of our local recycling system PET Recycling Schweiz (PRS), one of the best in the world.”
Last month, Nestlé invested up to CHF2bn ($2bn) as part of its plan to switch from virgin plastics to food-grade recycled plastics.During the same month, the company introduced a Nesquik All Natural powder in a recyclable paper pouch, which is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and is easily recyclable. The commitments and the investment are part of the company’s strategy to use one third less virgin plastics by 2025.Other mineral water brands from Nestlé, including Belgian brand Valvert, Vittel from France and Buxton in the UK, have all announced similar commitments last year.Henniez will celebrate its 115th anniversary this year. The company is the first brand in Switzerland to launch mineral water in plastic bottles back in 1984. What you should read next
