Celanese Earns ENERGY STAR® Partner of Year Sustained Excellence Award for Fifth Consecutive Year

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Celanese Corporation (NYSE: CE), a global chemical and specialty materials company, is proud to announce that for the fifth consecutive year it has received the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence Award for continued leadership and superior contributions to ENERGY STAR. Celanese’s accomplishments were recognized today by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.

“Celanese’s commitment to sustainability, the circular economy, and a leading energy management program is foundational to how we operate as a company as evidenced by our vision as we seek to improve the world and everyday life through our people, chemistry and innovation,” said Jon Mortimer, Vice President, Global Manufacturing. “Since 2013, Celanese has decreased energy intensity across the enterprise by 15 percent. In 2019, our energy reduction efforts saved more than $16 million even though production capacity increased globally to meet the demands of our customers. In these ways and many more, Celanese is leading the way for chemical and materials companies globally to demonstrate the value we bring to modern society as well as the local communities where we operate.”

“I salute the 2020 ENERGY STAR award winners,” said Anne Idsal, EPA Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator for Air and Radiation. “These leaders demonstrate how energy efficiency drives economic competitiveness in tandem with environmental protection.”

The highest honor among ENERGY STAR awards is the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence Award. EPA presents the Sustained Excellence Award to partners that have already received ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year recognition for a minimum of two consecutive years and have gone above and beyond the criteria needed to qualify for recognition. Winners hail from small, family-owned businesses to Fortune 500 organizations—representing energy-efficient products, services, new homes, and buildings in the commercial, industrial, and public sectors.
