The goal of the alliance is to create and manufacture high-quality recycle-based compounds and distribute them worldwide, according to a statement. Managing directors of both companies have signed a joint letter of intent on the cooperation.
Meraxis CEO Stefan Girschik said, â??We aim to use the combined expertise of the two companies to meet the increasing demand for high-quality plastic recyclates in the automotive, construction and packaging industries.â? Meraxis said it will supply MOL with high-quality, post-consumer recycled materials to be blended with the producerâ??s polyolefin resins. The companies plan to use their combined compounding knowledge to develop a new product portfolio for production at Germanyâ??s Aurora (Neuenstein; www.aurora-kunststoffe.de), which MOL acquired in 2019 (see Plasteurope.com of 17.04.2019). Both partners are expected to be involved in distribution.
Meraxis was formed in 2019 with the merger of the Swiss companies MB Barter & Trading and Rehau (see Plasteurope.com of 04.07.2019), with the latter responsible for global production material supply for the Rehau group. MOL laid the foundation stone for a 200,000 t/y polyol plant in Tiszaàºjvà¡ros / Hungary in 2019, and start-up is scheduled for 2021 (see Plasteurope.com of 03.10.2019).15.09.2020 Plasteurope.com [245905-0]
